Hi all,
Does anyone have details on any robust procedures for the safe destruction and disposal of sodium cyanoborohydride? I have an old bottle of it in my lab which I never used. At this stage it's not even a free flowing solid anymore but rather one dark brown congealed glassy solid. I'd estimate that there's about 10 g of it there.
Thanks!

Under a good hood I would use an alkallne permanganate solution (1 g /l NaOH, 5 g/l KMnO4). To this solution stored in a beaker glass I would add slowly the sodium cyano borhydride.
It should be oxydised to cyanate OCN- and borate BO33-

Thanks chenbeier. May I ask if you have a literature reference to this destruction procedure?
