Title: {mass percent}
Post by: world_travel on May 06, 2018, 03:09:59 AM
I got this question wrong on the test :( I'm so bad at math :(

Question. What volume of seawater is needed to give 5.00g of salt, given that the density of the seawater is 1.028 g/mL, and the mass percent of salt in water is 3.10%.

{MOD Edit -- useful title}

Do you remember how you solved this question on the test? Can you repeat it here (or at least outline what you did)?

Think factor-label method.  You are given 5 grams of salt.  What conversion factors are applicable given the density and percent mass?
