From elements no 1 to 18 , which do u guys think would be the best elements ... I have to choose which might be the good ones ... Its speciality like maybe its has highest boiling point , more reactive ... ... Do u guys know which elements would be great for me ??? ;)
-
How would we know? Pick Helium

How would we know? Pick Helium
Why Helium , what is so special about it ...Can u help me ???...

Best element for what? It depends on the purpose it will be serving.
Do you just mean an interesting element that you can write about? If so, B is probably your best bet.
-
Specify what is "best'. Give good criteria. Only then you get useful answers.
-
Diamonds (carbon) are good

Yeah , u r right , the best element is the one which is the intresting ones ... Why is B ??? ... I mean , the elements that hv many good uses ,

You may have to put some effort in here. There's these things called books you see, and within them one may find information. The amazing thing is that there are books about all sorts of things these days. History, philosophy, mathematics, and even chemistry - and even as specific as "Chemistry of the elements" by Greenwood and Earnshaw". You name it, theres probably a book about it! But it gets even better, theres these places where they have loads of them, and I mean loads - shelves and shelves of books! You can pay them a bit of money and they let you borrow the books for a bit - it's so cool! It's called a library. It's really handy because that way you don't have to buy them all - books can be pretty expensive if you buy them to keep.
Oh, also there's this wicked new thing called "the Internet"! It's soooooooo awesome. Seriously! In fact, you are using the Internet right now! Cool isn't it! There's so much stuff on the Internet - it is truly amazing. Now, only problem is finding what you're looking for. Well, fear not because someone came up with these things called "search engines". One of them is called google, and can be found at www.google.com if you tell google what you're looking for, it has a look around and then shows you web pages that it thinks have what you want! You hardly have to do anything, it's really, really easy! Even a child could do it!
I strongly believe that with the combined power if books and the Internet, we are unstoppable. Good luck my friend, and godspeed.

Wikipedia is nice too.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Periodic_table_%28standard%29
All of the elements are interesting in their own ways, but I don't know which qualities would interest you the most. So, I recommend clicking on one of the first 18 elements and then just reading about their notable characteristics & applications. Once you know what they're used for, you'll have a much better idea which element to pick.

Thanks so much ... i know its a bit sarcastic .. But i m sorry .. tq for the advice

The best element in the world is actually magnesium (Mg).
-
why Mike ???
-
No silicon is better
-
I personally fancy fluorine. ;D
-
Na, it's Sodium. ;)
-
Sufur is really cool from an organic chemistry point of view.

Magnesium as well, that's why I like it ;)
-
I have to agree Magnesium is pretty cool, but fluorine is just so darn exsplosively reactive! :D
-
I vote fluorine.
Firzzy 87, Dan and wereworm73 both give you a good start. Everyone is going to think that different elements are the "best".
Just look at the main uses/characteristics of the first 18 elements, and then you can decide which one is the "best".
-
Imagine what would happen to Sodium metal thrown into Fluorine gas! :)
-
That would be one very err "bright" reaction. :P
-
Better yet try francium and fluorine. Bright and radioactive! ;D
-
Awesome ;D

I doubt it, you'll never isolate enough Francium to try it out.
-
While we're having this discussion, I vote Nitrogen! Soooo reactive ;)
-
:D I vote for carbon . It forms nearly 10 million compounds , much more than formed by any other element
Sufur is really cool from an organic chemistry point of view.
Magnesium as well, that's why I like it ;)
If sulfur or magnesium are cool , then carbon will be the coolest one from organic chemistry point of view ;) ( I simply love organic chemistry )
-
hydrogen... the simplest atom!
-
Carbon is by far the best element. It has a whole branch of chemistry to itself. Without Carbon there would be no alkenes, alkanes, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, esters, aromatic chemistry.. you get the picture. Not to mention you would be missing out on all them mechanisms. Don't you just love mechanisms? :)
-
Of course I love mechanisms. ;D
Fluorine still rocks though!!!
