Title: Cs into HOH Vigorous reaction occurs, flame, explosion. Reaction Electron ladder
Post by: ButterlessToast on October 26, 2018, 06:23:23 AM
Throw Cs into HOH. Vigorous reaction occurs, then flame, then explosion.
1) Write reaction electron ladder
(The attached photo is the pourbaix diagram for Li^+/Li) However, my notes/textbook state: "Equation same as above except first term on right is Cs(-2.92)"
"Electron ladders with HOH show liberation of H2"

2) Reaction sequence

2Cs(s) +2H2O(l)=2CsOH(s)+H2(g)

*If you could also help with the rest of the sub questions*
3) Estimate voltage

4) Write explosion equation
