Title: I am finding a name for a certain apparatus
Post by: Richard Jeong on January 06, 2019, 09:19:22 PM
Hello, I need to buy a glass apparatus used in experiments, and I don't know what the exact name was.
It was some kind of small chamber or jar, so small that it perfectly fits to put a 20mL vial into the jar.
it had a ground glass joint.
I used it to dry products collected in a vial by connecting joint adapter and rubber tube and reduce the pressure.
I said this to my supervisor, but he said it is a rare item, which rarely shows up in catalogs.
It would be helpful to know the name. Thank you for reading :)

Just put your product in a round bottom flask and hook it to a rotovap.

Are you thinking of the Teflon screw on adapter for scintillation vials? It's basically 24/40 to scint vial as the adaptor.

24/40 is a little bit small to put a vial. Thank you for the suggestion, but scint vial looks like other ordinary vials in case of appearance(as far as I googled it). I cannot actually measure the joint, but I think it should be around 45/50 or smaller.
