Title: auto ignition temperature of steel wool.
Post by: xchcui on February 13, 2019, 11:51:00 AM
Hi.

I read on several websites that an hole in the exhaust pipe can be repaired with regular steel wool, muffler repair tape and a can of soda.
You can see one of them in the following link:

My questions are:What is the auto ignition temperature
of a steel wool?
Isn't the steel wool going to burn, while it exposed to the high temperature of the gasses(400-800°C)?
Steel wool rusts very fast, within a day, when exposed to water,so i can't figure-out why the steel wool is used for that repair.
Any thoughts?
