Title: Difference between ion and ionic compound
Post by: Al90 on February 27, 2019, 08:23:09 AM
What is the difference? Does ion only refer to a cation or anion, while ionic bonded elements are called ionic compounds instead of ions?

An ion is a charged species either +ve cation or -ve anion.

An ionic compound is made from at least two different groups of ions and the net charge = 0.
