Title: Calculating volume required from each NaOH and HAc to prepare buffer?
Post by: AussieKenDoll on March 06, 2019, 11:54:36 PM
I know how to calculate the volume required each from 1 mol dm-3 CH3COOH and 1 mol dm-3 CH3COONa to prepare 100.0 ml of 0.1 M CH3COOH/ CH3COONa buffer with pH = 5
but this question is slightly different. How do I calculate the volume required each from 1 mol dm-3 CH3COOH and 1 mol dm-3 NaOH to prepare 100.0 ml of 0.1 M CH3COOH/ CH3COONa buffer with
pH = 5.
pKa of CH3COOH = 4.75

Do you know Henderson-Hasselbalch equation?
Express the Acetat with acetic acid and sodium hydroxide

Assume neutralization reaction goes to completion.
