Title: Fuel in Air-conditioners and Refrigerators.
Post by: prashantakerkar on May 04, 2019, 06:54:16 AM
What are the reasons that we use gas in Air conditioners and Refrigerators as a fuel?

Why we can't use gasoline (Petrol) or diesel similar to we use gasoline (Petrol) or diesel or CNG as a fuel in automobiles?

If I am not wrong air compressors are in all three i.e. Air conditioners, Refrigerators as well as in Automobiles ?

Technology wise, Is it possible to design and manufacture Air-conditioners and Refrigerators which can accept Gasoline (Petrol) & Diesel as fuels instead of gas?

Thanks & Regards,

Do we? They are mostly electric.

are you getting confused with refrigerant gas?

So my question was, Is it possible to eliminate those gases used in Air conditioners & refrigerators and use Gasoline (Petrol) or/ and Diesel, change the compressor design inside Air conditioners & Refrigerators, any other parts within the two products to make them work?

Gases used are selected for their properties - the most important one being a boiling point under elevated pressure. Technically you can probably design a cooling system around any gas, but it won't be efficient nor economically viable.

these gasses are not fuels, they are not used up, they just get compressed and expanded continually

Ok. Thanks.

https://www.hielscher.com/superior-nano-fuels-by-ultrasonic-dispersion.htm

Can we use a Liquid ring compressor which will compress Petrol (Gasoline) and/or Diesel or nanofuels instead of a Gas compressor which will replace HFC, CFC, HCFC gases ?

What for?

Many things are doable, doesn't mean they make sense.

Thanks Borek

Attached a useful document for applications of Hydrofluorocarbons in industrial products.

Can we evaluate Nanofuels replacing the Hydrofluorocarbons and other parts used in the industrial products for evaluating whether it has improved the performance, operations & efficiency of those newly manufactured industrial products?

Can we evaluate

Yes.

Note that quite often evaluation is quite short, as it is obvious from the very beginning that something doesn't make sense.

I suggest you read https://library.sciencemadness.org/library/books/ignition.pdf - that's about rocket fuels, but it nicely shows how the work they did was based on the waste knowledge about chemistry, and not on some random ideas and fashionable buzzwords.

Thanks for the Ignition - Liquid propellant for Rocket PDF document.

As has already been said - the gas in the air conditioner expands and contracts and acts as a heat exchange medium. Nothing like a fuel. The gas in fuel burning engines such as a car is a fuel and is burned to release its energy which is converted to propulsion - nothing like the halogenated hydrocarbons used in cooling systems.
