Trying to understand the reasoning behind how one goes about choosing solvents for cleaning nanoparticles in solution. Do you want to start with a solvent that solvates ONLY your waste material (starting reagents, reaction solvent, etc.)? Or should your product (nanocrystals) be slightly soluble as well, and then you help precipitate them out with some other slightly miscible solvent and continue increasing the polarity difference between the two until you have a proper biphasic solution?
If you can just point me towards a good textbook that goes through this, that will suffice. Thank you
