Your reasoning regarding the relative nucleophilicity of amines and nitriles is good.

Consider the relative electrophilicity of aldehydes vs nitriles - which do you think is more electrophilic and why?

Sterics have nothing to do with this question.

thank you all,

I think aldehyde is more electrophil the the nitrile because O is mor electronegative than N to the C would be charged more partly positive.
