is Pd(dba)2 an 18 electron complex?
« on: April 03, 2015, 12:49:00 PM »
Hi,

I wanted to know if anyone could answer my question about whether Pd(dba)2 is an 18 electron complex.

I know Pd has an oxidation state of 0 and so has 10 electrons but how many electrons does each dba ligand donate to Pd? I believe it's 4 electrons (2 per alkene bond) so 8 electrons in total, therefore 10 +8 = 18 electron complex, but i'm not 100% sure!

I would really appreciate some help. Many thanks
