« on: August 05, 2017, 02:20:55 PM »
hello, i have a question about electron affinity. why is it so much lower for the elements in 5. group in comparison with the elements in 4. group? is it because of the p orbitals? how much electrons can p orbitals have? i hope you will understand my question according to my poor english :-))) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electron_affinity -->link for the table

Check the electronic configuration of group 4 and 5.
Compare their stability and decide in which case it is easy to add electron.
