« on: September 02, 2007, 08:09:31 AM »
Hello,

I want some advice for followings.

To much methanol(CH3OH) was added little concentrated hydrochloric acid(HCl).

so, what is produced? CH3O- or CH3+?

and, what is the reason?

Find the most basic site in CH3OH and then have it behave as a base (proton acceptor).

yes, I think the product is CH3-OH2(+)Cl(-).The reaction just like a reaction between Acide and Base
