Career in Nuclear chemistry
« on: December 25, 2007, 08:10:34 PM »
Hi there.  I am currently studying chemistry at university and have the option of what specialist topics i can take, and i really want to do the nuclear chemistry.
I was just wondering what i can expect career wise if i choose to become a nuclear chemist?
The career advisors are hopeless and cant really give me any information of what prospects are out there.
Thanks

I'm a nuclear chemistry graduate student. From what I've seen, you can always find a decent paying job. Although there are not that many, but there aren't many nuclear chemists either so it all works out nicely.
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
3. Forum Supports LaTex

One of the hottest markets for nuclear chemists would be nuclear medicine. Otherwise you're looking at weapons, power plants and waste management.
