solid cyclohexane
« on: June 20, 2006, 06:01:53 PM »
Hi all,

I've been looking for the density of solid (frozen) cyclohexane. I believe that it is around 1.1 g/cc. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've had no luck with MSDSs or the CRC(student version).

Thank you!!

And I guess it will be close to the density of the liquid itself - which is 0.77 g/mL, so I expect solid to be about 0.8 g/mL. 1.1 looks way too high for me.

Yes, the 1.1 is definately wrong. I froze some cyclohexane and it floats in water... and it's considerably less dense than solid water. I'm still looking for a number and would love to hear any ideas of where to find this value.

Thank you!!
