How to tackle a chemical problem?

(1/1)

shrinivasan:
How to tackle questions like this, "addition of dil hcl to B produces an effervescence. The gas produced turns like water milky, but does not affect acidified potassium dichromate solution".

mjc123:
Who's Molly, and why is she turned by gas?

shrinivasan:
Sorry typo error lime water milky

mjc123:
The only real way to tackle them is to learn the chemistry. Can you think of a gas that turns lime water milky, and is produced by effervescence of certain compounds in contact with acids? That's a basic fact you will be expected to know.
