modeling anaerobic digestion in Aspen Plus
« on: June 06, 2019, 11:22:02 AM »
Hello
i would to simulate anaerobic digestion by mean Aspen plus with ADM1 model.
my goal is to investigate the variations of CH4 and CO2 in effluent gas with the variation of CSTR reactor temperature.

The simulations run only with the temperature of 55°C that is reported in model, i try to simulate with lower temperature but the system gives always error :

** ERROR PRE-EXPONENTIAL FACTOR IN POWER LAW EXPRESSION
FOR REACTION NUMBER '4' IS LESS THAN
ZERO. ITS REACTION RATE IS SET TO ZERO.

Can i resolve this problem?
i try also to remove the components of reaction numbEr 4 but always the error appear..

thanks in advance

Hello Antonio,

I think that the components of your number 4 reaction are not the problem, because the error that appear refers to pre-exponential factor of this reaction. It means that you need to change this parameter in the R-4 of Aspen Plus. Enter into reactions folder at the left and change this parameter, the problem can be the units that you are using or a wrong punctuation sign.

Hope this would be useful for you.

Hello Antonio,

How did you determine the kinetic parameters for the ADM1 modeling for AD in ASPEN? I am trying to do the same thing  but I am having a very hard time finding the required data.
