Magnet (or glow) to fabric
« on: June 25, 2019, 06:17:04 AM »
Hello,
I have a theoretical question: is there a material that can be used as some kind a magnet (or glow) to fabric, aka t-shirts etc?
It has to be multi-use, connect and disconnect easily, so regular glow will not work out (and of course a magnet isn't possible).

Thanks!

I have heard that they sew wire into shirts. Maybe you can make an electromagnet in the shirt that way.

Hey!
The problem is that it required pre-preparation (to sew wire into the shirts), and I don't want that :(

I haven't understood the query. Could you re-explain what you want to obtain?

Hey Enthalpy,
The idea is to add this kind of a material to some object (like pens etc), and every time I want I can make the pen "magnet" my shirt (and that way pull it off and on whenever I want, with no pre preparation).

If the pen hangs mechanically, you need no special fabric.

If you accept to modify the cloth and the pen, you have "Velcro" touch fastener, aka scratch

You might ask at a haberdasher's shop if something already exists, like a half-Velcro working on unprepared clothes.
