Consider a simple reaction mechanism involving autocatalytic step:
B+2 X
3 X (the constant is k1)
X+D
P (the constant is k2)
Write the rate
equation for X.
How do you solve it? What book should I read about kinetics?

If I am reading the question correctly, it is not asking one to derive the rate law. If so, then a general chemistry textbook might be sufficient.
