Stereochemistry of large organic molecules

I just wanted to ask if some of you have great tricks to switch between conformations. From Lewis to 6-membered TS or to go to a newman projection really fast?

Buy a model kit - I've been a chemist for about 10 years and my kit still lives right next to my keyboard at my desk!
