Weight percent problem im struggling with
« on: October 30, 2019, 04:39:13 PM »
How do I solve:
“If a 25mL sample of a CaCl2 solution that weighs 5.139g was evaporated and found to contain 1.750g of CaCl2, what is the weight percent of CaCl2 in the mixture? What is the weight percent of the water?”
This is coming from a freshman year college chemistry lab. Thanks for any input.

Show first your own ideas? But there is something wrong. 25ml of this solution can never have a weight of 5,139 g. If you had only water it would be 25 g, so the weight must be higher as this.
