FINDING PH PF UNKNOWN SOLUTION(INORGANIC)

(1/1)

ankitpatel177:
Is there any formula from which we can find out ph of solution using conductance?

chenbeier:
No, because conductivity is related of all ions in solution. NaCl in water is neutral, but has high conductivity.  Acetic acid has middle conductivity, but low pH. Sodium carbonate has middle to high conductivity and also high pH.

Enthalpy:
If an acid is the only dissolved substance, there is some limited hope, because H+ is much more mobile than the negative ion, so the conductivity results mainly from the H+ concentration. But that will never be an accurate measurement. And if other ions are present, game over.
