N-NH3 and NO2-N

hi, I am supposed to summarize a sewage water directive. It is confusing me why they always write N-NH3 and NO2-N. Does someone know why that is, just to emphasize that it contains nitrogen?

No, it´s not to emphasize that it contains nitrogen. It´s just to indicate that all analysis must be calculated in mg/l N, not in mg/l NH3 or NO2.
