Difference between mineral chelates and salts

Hi,

Is an amino acid chelate of a mineral, e.g. zinc glycinate chelate, also a salt?

Is there a difference between mineral salts and chelates?

Do mineral chelates dissolve in water? Do they break up into positively and negatively charged ions?

Is this homework or personal interest?  Your questions are somewhat broad.  What have you found out so far?
