About water I understand H2 is H+ but why is O2, O2-?

I am really confused.

So Hydrogen exists as a molecule H2 because as by itself it is H+ since it is missing 1 electron.

Now oxygen baffles me. Oxygen exists because 2 electrons are shared from both oxygen atoms to make the outer orbital 8 electrons so its full up hence O2. By itself, the single oxygen atom would be O2+ and not O2-.

In Water H2O Hydrogen has given it electrons to Oxygen. So you have 2 H+ and 1 O2-

 In Solution the electrolysis reaction is more complicatet.

KATHODE 2H+ + 2e- => H2
ANODE 4 OH- => 2 H2O + O2 + 4 e-
