How can you tell polyamide from polyester

Hi. I have a fabric that either has polyester + lycra or polyamide + lycra. What is the best way to tell whether it has polyester or polyamide? Some posts said ferric hydroxamate test might be the one but others mention that it's not reliable. Could someone suggest a way of testing? Thanks!

There is a simple spectroscopy method, can you think which one?
