Balanced equation for fischer esterification of benzocaine?
« on: February 03, 2020, 11:12:38 AM »
Hi! It's been a while since I've had to balance an equation so I'm not sure how to go about this. We mixed 1.0 gram of p-aminobenzoic acid with 10.0 mL of absolute ethanol, then once solid dissolved we added 1.0 mL of concentrated sulfuric acid. What is a balanced chemical equation for this reaction? What would be the limiting reagent? Thanks!

What gives acid and alcohol?

Calculate the moles of each reactant and compare.
