Potassium dichromate stability in solustion
« on: February 13, 2020, 02:16:53 PM »
For titration purposes, should potassium dichromate solution be prepared everyday right before usage or can it be stored and used for the next day? If so, how long can it be stored before there might be incorrect titration values? I tried googling for the answer but nothing direct came up.

It is very stable it can be stored several month. But you should calibrate once per week with fresh reducing agent.

Hi,  Genesis! If you use it regulary, i recommend you to prepare big amount of dolution, and test it every week. After some time you will see the change of concentration. It is the best way to determine shelf-life of the solution in the lab. In aother labs shelf life may be different, remember this!
