Hello! This question from the 2019 ICHO prep confused me a bit, I get why the dx^2-y^2 and dxy orbitals rise in Energy, but don't understand why the other orbitals decrease in energy, as they shouldn't be impacted
Using arrows, illustrate the evolution of the electronic levels of the copper (II) complex
when water is replaced by ammonia during the transformation studied in question 1. The
involved ligands will be taken on the z axis

The arrows basically represent the change from Cu(H2O)6 to Cu(NH3)4(H2O)2. H2O is supposed to remain on the z axis while NH3 displaces h2O on the other axis

Does anyone know why there are the arrows on the 3 other orbitals
