Difference between two similar formulas ?

Hi friends, I am looking here at two similar formulas of a GAG like chemical (Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium) but with different CAS identifiers.
I was asked what is the "core" of the difference between them.
If there is no difference, why are they identified differently in terms of CAS ?

It looks like its the same stuff according the physical parameters, but in first formulation n is not specified. In second one its 6 to12.

I see ! So in theory the first one is "generic" and the second one has a set parameter so that it could be called 37319-17-8.
The first one could also be  6 to 12 but "it doesn't have to"
In turn, formula 2 is in theory more expensive to produce requiring more QA

Did I make valid  assumptions  ?

From what I have been told, the same compound may have two different CAS numbers.
