Is molar heat of combustion positive or negative?
thanks

In general, the heat of combustion at RTP is negative, ie. exothermic.

well i thought it had no sign or it is positive since it is defined as the heat released in combustion and if it is negative then it means that heat is absorbed.

No, it doesn't. If it's negative, it will mean you have an exothermic reaction.

i understand why enthalpy of combustion is negative. But isn't molar heat of combustion different.

the molar heat of combustion is the enthalpy of combustion as well.
