VLE Air water ammonia mixture question
« on: June 08, 2020, 10:35:41 AM »
Hey guys,

How would you calculate The outlet mole fraction of ammonia in the vapor and Total amount of inlet vapor that can be processed (in mol/h) for the following task:

A mixture of air containing 55 mol % ammonia is contacted with water containing 9 mol % ammonia in a single equilibrium contact stage. Assume that pure water is not evaporating and air is not condensing. If the total inlet liquid flow rate is 10 mol/h and the outlet liquid contains 10 mol % ammonia calculate the following:

did you
.. (1) draw a box diagram and label all streams
.. (2) do any mole balances?
given the system is at equilibrium, can you
.. (3) think of any relationships between liquid concentration and vapor pressure?
.. (4) think of any relationships between vapor pressure and mole fraction in vapor phase?
