Question about boiling point of molecules
« on: December 17, 2020, 04:59:05 AM »
CH3CH2OH and CH3COOH
How do I know which atom is the higher boiling point? The only thing I understand is that these molecules both have hydrogen bonds, but what do I do next to differentiate them?

Both compounds mix with water in an unlimited way. So it's hard to discuss solubility with these examples.

Sorry I asked the wrong question... I meant boiling point not solubility

Don't change your original post once it's been answered. It means the answers don't make sense. Ask the new question in a new post.

How do I know which atom

Molecule, not atom. But even then I would not ask about BP of a "molecule", as in general single molecule doesn't have a BP. Substance does.

@yuheng_wu
you have violated this forum rules about editing  twice
plus you have given the exact same title to 2 different questions
This makes for confusion for those who are reading the forum
