So, quick question: What is the chemical reaction for the formation of Copper patina (verdigris, i think), or copper corrosion (And oxygen corrosion of copper is what leads to te formation of verdigris, right?)? I've found different reactions, different chemical compositions etc...
I am basically looking for the chemistry behind how the statue of liberty went from its shiny copper colors to how it looks today.
Thanks in advance :)

Start with Patina's entry in Wikipedia and from there use the link to basic copper carbonate.
