any summer school in org chem?
« on: October 04, 2006, 03:06:58 AM »
HI everybody! Are there any summer schools in US universities/colleges for foreign grad or undergrad students? I'm particularly interested in org chem, 2007 summer. I mean if there are any profs interested in accepting students for summer research or lab practice? I've surfed the net but couldn't find anything like that. Most programs are old and for local residents only. Could you help me with some info or a piece of advise? Do you think mailing some profs would help? What about other English-speaking countries?

You mean to do organic research or to take undergraduate organic chemistry class?
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
3. Forum Supports LaTex

Google "nsf summer reu chemistry" and you should come across the NSF site.  It might not have been updated yet.
Alternatively, the ACS has something along the lines of a "directory of experiences" --it's somewhere on their site but isn't easy to find.
