Mass Spectrometry

So the question was “what would the mass spectrum of magnesium look like if a small portion of atoms were ionized to 2+ ions”. The answer is on the image attached. Can someone please explain to me how they got that? I don’t get the whole mass/charge thing

Correct mass spectrum. You can even see the isotopes.

Not sure what it is that you are not understanding. Every ion has a mass and a charge, so it also has a mass/charge ratio. In this particular case charge of most ions is 2 (but not of all), and magnesium is a mixture of isotopes. Hence many peaks.
