I'm having a lot of trouble understanding HOMO/LUMO and how that corresponds to MO theory. I am in Orgo 2 and will apply MO theory to conjugated systems.
1. How do you tell which orbital is reacting with the HOMO/LUMO? Which corresponds to an electrophile/nucleophile?
2. How do you know which electrons go into each orbital
3. How does the electron configuration which labels the HOMO/LUMO correspond with the Molecular Orbitals?
