stabilization effect ??

Why do the "hyperconjugation" can stabilize the alkene  ???
I know there is a similiar resonnance effect , the sharing of e- between p-orbital and the sigma bond,
but then why stabilize the alkene ???

In a nutshell, p orbitals of a pi bond are stabilized by alkyl substituents.
