Binding enthalpy for this reaction
« on: March 06, 2021, 07:50:26 PM »
Hello

I had to find the binding Enthalpy for this reaction:

N2+O2 --> 2 NO

I've watched a lot of videos now on how to calculate the enthalpy - and I did the same, that they did.
I noticed that the enthalpies for O2 and N2 were both 0 and therefore we are just left with 2 NO, and 1 NO has enthalpy of 90 kJ. So therefore my answer for this quiz was Enthalpy of products - enthalpy of reactans = (2*90) - (0+0) = 180

However the only options were: 222, -222, -829, 829 and -87.
What did i do wrong?

-you calculated formation enthalpies but  you have written binding in the title
