How does LiCL work during the synthesis of Ru(II)(Bipy)2Cl2?
« on: March 14, 2021, 09:47:33 PM »
I am synthesizing Ru(II)(Bipy)2Cl2 by the follwing way: adding Ru(III)Cl3, LiCl and bipyridine to DMF and then refluxing for 8 hours (under N2). I do not understand why LiCL should be added. It maight be a catalyst, but how does it work? What is the mechanism?

Waiting for your help :)

Its possible it makes the RuCl3 more soluble.
