Synthesis of anti-2-bromo-1,2-diphenylethanol

I have to write a mechanism that explains the stereochemistry of the product. I attached a photo of my guess, is it correct?

Looks a bit off.

Can you draw this out stepwise? I think it goes via the bromonium ion. Is J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1968, 90, 20, 5498–5501 (https://doi.org/10.1021/ja01022a030) any use?
