S2Cl2 (this is not pure compound, it always contains SCl2) dissolve sulfur and form a mixture of SxCl2 with x up to 100. Obtaining pure S3Cl2 or S4Cl2 needs more specific metods.
Search Gmelin for details.

Yes thanks. would sulfur be soulble in SCl2? I want to try one reaction with S3Cl2, which i already did with S2Cl2, now i want to add more sulfur atom in that chain. Should i take S2Cl2 in some solvent and add sulfur?
I don't have acess to gmelin ???

Pure SCl2 (freshly prepared) reacts with liqud H2S to form SxCl2 with x odd, hence this way you can prepare S3Cl2.

Thanks AWK
I started with S2Cl2 and sulfur in equimolar quantities. I don't have SCl2, and i think you can buy only S2Cl2 commercially. OR S2Cl2 is converted to SCl2. Well, if I react the sulfur and S2Cl2, then should i do distillation if there is mixture of products?
