Transition state
« on: April 08, 2021, 12:13:18 AM »
Hello, this is my first time posting here. I am stuck on this problem that I barely understand how to do: https://www.reddit.com/user/RedStorm1917/comments/mmif7q/chemistry_problem_im_stuck_with/. I've tried reaching out to people on discord and reddit but it ended in back-and-forth conversations with no clear answer. Can anyone help me out here? Does the deciding factor have to do with electronegativity or acid? And if you're confused about the "tug-of-war" part, try to interpret it from this: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1wOOseJw-V998bqMgLowLgqP5m1YmLZcZPLwsVOLKYTs/edit#slide=id.p1.

It is a forum rule that you must show your attempt before we can help you.  However, I will give you a suggestion to get started.  I would think in terms of Lewis acid/Lewis base chemistry as a starting point.
