STOICHIOMETRY
« on: May 11, 2021, 01:33:39 PM »
Density of Acetic Acid = 1.082 g/ml
Mass of Salicylic Acid =  5.102 g
Volume of Acetic anhydride = 10.00 ml
Mass of filter paper =  0.0654 g
Mass of watch glass = 8.677 g
Mass of filter paper, watchglass & ASA = 15.062 g
Mass of ASA = (15.062g-8.677g-0.0654g = 6.3196g but 6.320g for sig figs??)

What is the percentage yield of aspirin (ASA)??

What are the steps needed to solving this?

like do we do convert them into moles and then find the limiting reagent and then find the percentage yield? or what are the steps that we take finding this?

6,3196 as salicylic acid, filter paper and watch glass were weighted with 0,0001 g accuracy.

You are right. It just need to find limiting reagent and then calculate the yield.

Beware, as 1,082 g/ml is density of acetic anhydride rather than density of acetic acid.
