determination of Cl-, NO3- and SO42- in water (IC)
« on: May 30, 2021, 04:34:51 AM »
HI
I wonder if there are other analytical techniques used for determination of salts in water other than ionic chromatography (IC) ...

Thanks

A lot depends on the concentration, but nothing stops you from you using classical methods, like gravimetry and titration.

Using tritation are Cl- NO3-  titrated  separately ??
thanks :)

( anyway concentration around 3/3.5 mg/l )

@xshadow

- Cl- - titration with AgNO3 (with K2CrO4 as indicator)
- SO42- - precipitation to BaSO4 (gravimetry)
- NO3- - formation of nitrosalicylic acid which give intense yellow colour (spectrophotometry)

Well, you haven't said that earlier. That's way too low for classic methods.
