Question about atomic structure
« on: May 30, 2021, 07:09:42 AM »
Hello everyone,
If an isotope of an element loses an electron, is it both an ion and an isotope or just an ion? My science teacher said that I wouldn't be able to refer to it as an isotope anymore, so I'm confused.
Thanks in advance.

Both isotope and ion. Loss of electron does not change its number of neutrons.
