What molecule does this tattoo depict (Solved?)
« on: June 21, 2021, 10:54:23 PM »
I spotted this tattoo on a model in a photoshoot (NSFW so no link. Julia Nobis if you're curious). The structure does not look even close to any recreational drug I'm aware of (my first thought, given the context) but the highest-res copy (attached here, no further enlargement) I can find isn't clear enough for me to use online structure-based search tools.

I think I see a disulfide bond in there and get the sense I could be looking at a few amino acids, but I haven't been able to identify anything in here to an extent that lets me move forward with a search.

Here's hoping that even at this very low resolution, the structure rings a bell with someone. Thanks!

ETA: I've just been going through a list of peptides hoping for a match and I think I may have stumbled across it — sure looks like oxytocin to my eyes.

Yep, oxytocin looks like a good bet.
