Scandals in science that involve(s) (a) scientist(s) twisting theories to fit into their own hypothesis
I need this for a report that I'm working on as an objection for the statement of “Given that every theory has its limitations, we need to retain a multiplicity of theories to understand the world” (IB TOK essay KQ).
I'm thinking about using an example of scientists manipulating theories to conclude on a hypothesis for their own personal gain (like fame or money).
If you have any cases of such in mind, please do drop a link of it in the replies, or if you have questions and would like me to elaborate better, feel free to ask me.
Thank you for your help, I appreciate it a lot!

It might help to define the terms "theory" and "hypothesis."  I don't have any specific examples in mind.

Pretty vague question but you may look through retraction watch. There are a lot of cases of scientific fraud documented there. Whether one fits what you need will have to be determined by you.

You may also check out this list:

Specific cases of interest that come to mind include:

etc.

As a general comment, the statement is nonsense and is based on a really bad understanding of what a theory is and how the scientific method works. As Babcock-Hall indicated, your essay should include a rigorous description of the distinction between a hypothesis and a theory.
