Is there a relationship between low pH and safety of handling? For example, can something have a pH of 0.5 and not melt your skin off if spilled on a person?

Low pH solutions shoudl be handled with care, but pH 0 to 1 are not so dangerous - ie they will not harm you just because they are acidic if accidentally spilled and flushed with excess water fast (note that some acids can be dangerous for other reasons).

That doesn't mean you shouldn't be carefull.
